Baby IA Part One: The Reveal

What a ride it has been ever since the last blog post. I didn't blog throughout my whole pregnancy, which honestly was quite a breeze. I didn't have morning sickness. In fact, only evening sickness (if there is such a thing!) The worst time for me was every time after I got back from work. Some days I really had no appetite for dinner. Food wise, I was okay with everything except some fish which was nauseating.

Anyhow, how did I find out about the pregnancy? Recording this down because I never want to forget.. the first sign could have been that last night I was in Seoul, I was vomiting so badly. I swear I thought I was going to die. It was like a scene front the Exorcist. And I remembered that my vomit was green. Our last meal was porridge and we had some grilled squid from Myeongdong. Me and Afiq ate the same thing so we kind of ruled out food poisoning. Could it be that I was...? After all, we left for our honeymoon a week after we go married and we spent two weeks in Korea. Afiq was freaked out and asked whether we should go to the hospital - which was out of the question as our flight home was the next morning. Luckily I had some medicine with me and I felt better the next morning.

A few days after we got back from our honeymoon, my period was due. Afiq randomly got a pregnancy test kit. I suspect he couldn't wait to know. First try - a faint positive. I wasn't sure how to use it (noob, I was). Because we thought the results might be inaccurate, he bought a few more from the petrol kiosk. That was in the wee hours of the morning.

A few test kits later that yielded the same results, I went to my sister's room and broke the news to her. She was getting ready for work. I took a picture of the kit and sent it to my mom and asked her what was the next step. Haha. She told me maybe I should call her gynae (yes, the one that delivered my siblings, 3 of my cousins and 2 of my cousins's kids) as he was still around.

Towards the end of the pregnancy, there was a Zika scare. Someone a few km away from my estate contracted the virus when he was in Brazil. The surrounding estates were fogged up but you just can't help feeling worried about microcephaly. I was nervous at each gynae visit, especially the part where he measured the head circumference.

But Alhamdulillah, Baby IA was fine and healthy.

HELLO FEBRUARY.

I know I've been saying that I will be updating this blog on a regular basis, since last year.. which never happened.

2015 has been somewhat a busy year. I finally got married to Afiq after 12 years of trials and tribulations. Which will continue into our marriagehood, I believe, because let's face it. Nothing is perfect in this world. But so far everything's been great!

2016 will be another great year and I'm really praying that everything goes well..

#AIgothitched is finally a wrap. Stay tuned to the next hashtag ;)

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
