One Café A Day Project - Orange Thimble

Day Three: Orange Thimble

Yes, you are seeing this right. I went to another cafe on Day Three of OCAD. Orange Thimble is just next to Tiong Bahru Bakery so it was a fast shift, honestly. I needed somewhere quiet to do my sketches and think about stuffs hence the move.

That was my second visit to Orange Thimble and it is still the same quaint little cafe that it was. I got what I wanted, peace and quiet!

Second order of the day. Orange Grapefruit juice + Salted Caramel cupcake

The cupcake was moist, just like how it should be.

Spent the time browsing and sketching.

One Café A Day Project - Tiong Bahru Bakery

Day Three: Tiong Bahru Bakery

Just realized that I totally missed out on Day Three of OCAD. Tiong Bahru Bakery is part of Food Collective - others include the Tippling Club, Forty Hands (another coffee joint along Tiong Bahru area!), Skinny Pizza.

Lemon Tart + Iced Mocha

I love this menu on the wall. Creative idea.

However, this cafe gets crowded even during off-peak hours! To ensure your seating, its best to do reservations. Otherwise, you can always opt for takeaways.

One Café A Day Project - L'etoile Cafe

Day Four: L'etoile Cafe

My favorite find out of this OCAD Project has got to be L'etoile Cafe. This cafe definitely has a different feel to it, and the fact that it is really quiet makes me fall in love with it even more.

"Inspired by the indie cafes in Japan, L'Etoile is a lifestyle shop cum cafe with Japanese-French influence."

Drinks menu. All their menus are handwritten.

Absolutely fell in love with the interior. I'm going to opt for the sofa next time!

One Café A Day Project - Carpenter and Cook

Day Two: Carpenter and Cook

Although it was within my vicinity, I got a little lost finding this well-hidden gem of a cafe (I even had to ask the Udders' staff for directions).

Upon reaching, I was greeted by this.

The pastry selection was pretty limited and I decided to go for the Lemon Cream tart. I was also looking forward to trying the Iced Mocha (despite the fact that it was raining, but it was still pretty humid!) but they had run out of chocolate. Opted for the Iced Latte instead.

Since Day One of OCAD, I've been looking forward to seeing a Chai Latte listed in the menus but to my disappointment, there hasn't been any.

Lemon Cream tart + Iced Latte

I really liked the taste of the lemon cream. Its sourness was just right. However, I found the crust a tad too hard.

In-store interior filled with vintage items, including furniture. Some are even up for sale.

The counter. Kudos for the effort placed on the interior design.

I love the fact that the cafes are small, although that also means it tends to get really packed during the weekends.

One Café A Day Project - Strangers' Reunion

This marks the very first post of my One Café A Day (OCAD) Project, a one week solo journey of cafe hunting in Singapore.

Day One: Strangers' Reunion

Tucked along the shophouses of Kampong Bahru Rd lies Strangers' Reunion. Let me warn you, it is pretty easy to miss, so please do keep your eyes peeled for this sign.

It wasn't crowded when I came because of the timing, I'm sure. I settled myself down and was given the menu. I contemplated over getting the buttermilk waffles, because I was alone and was afraid I couldn't finish it, but I did order it anyway.

Buttermilk Waffles with Fresh Fruits & Maple Syrup + Flat White.

The buttermilk waffles wasn't dry and I feared for nothing because I did manage to finish it all by myself! I even wanted to try the red velvet cupcake, but there wan't any more space in my stomach. It looked so tempting and good. I'll save that for my next visit.

Another reason to love this cafe. Its interior. I lost count of the hours I stayed in here. Probably two? Spent the whole time sketching. Felt a combination of happiness and peace.

Mostly low chairs. I purposely picked a seat that was next to the wall so that I can lean on it. All in all, this cafe is definitely worth a visit. I shall be posting up my sketch soon.
