TPSB

I attended the Topshop Personal Shopper Breakfast event last Saturday. Many would rather sleep in on a Saturday morning, but this, I wouldn't miss. The moment I reached, I ticked off my name at the entrance, got my goodie bag and went into Knightsbridge. I was greeted by, "Hello Miss, would you like a drink ?". "Yes, please", I replied as I reached out for a glass of orange juice. If you know me well, I don't eat much during events. I guess the excitement in me pretty much killed my appetite. I was looking forward to looking at the pretty clothes and hearing what Anny Lin (Topshop Knightsbridge Personal Shopper) and Ginette Chittick of FruFru and Tigerlily had to say about the Spring Summer '11 collection.

Waiting for the event to start. I came just in time, but not early enough to get a seat ! No matter. I made sure I stood in the middle and in front, to get a good view. Pretty sight, I must say. Shoes staring back at you.

B1, by then, was packed with people.

And they are ready to roll. Anny Lin introduces herself and then its time for our style talk. This season brings you 4 different looks - Snake Valley, Swedish Summer, Graduation and New Age Constellation. To sum it up, you get a whole lot of prints, colors (its time to chuck away your conventional blacks and greys !), scallop edges, fringes and chiffon.

Anny holding the Multi Colored Snake Print Shirt from the Snake Valley look. As I have mentioned, prints are in season. We've had a couple of leopard prints roaming around, now its time to bring out the snake in you.

Here is a clearer view of the MCSP. I would say this is is a rather versatile top as you can pair it with scallop-edged plain shorts or wide-legged pants.

A floral printed dress, and in sweet red to top it off. I would definitely wear this to the beach - or a stroll at the park.

Chiffon is big this season. And its lightweight material is definitely a plus point for a humid country like Singapore, don't you think ? Anny shows off the Buttermilk Cut Out Back Shirt. I think its unique cut brings out the edgy look.

Another chiffon blouse, but this time with a detailed collar. Absolutely love this ! Detailed collars are definitely in. I have two such blouses hanging somewhere in my wardrobe now. Plus, don't such collars reminds you of Alexa Chung. I bet such blouses are a staple in her wardrobe.

These collars bring smart to a whole new level.

Next up, Graduation ! The preppy look. As you know, we can never run away from stripes. Striped pieces are very versatile and go across all seasons. What can be a perfect way to complete this look, other than putting on a varsity jacket ?

This White One Shoulder Panel Dress could be paired with brown clogs to complete the whole look.

Wide-legged pants from the SS/11 collection can definitely spice up your wardrobe !

Boyfriend blazers. You can pretty much wear them with anything and anywhere. With shorts, to make your casual look more fun. With your work outfits to make it less boring. This definitely beats the usual cardigans - hands down.

So, after Anny showcased to us the different looks they have for SS/11, it was time for their special guest, Ginette Chittick to tell us more about herself and what she thought about fashion. Most important advice that I got from her talk was - never wear an outfit that you don't feel good about.

If you ever put on an outfit, and you feel something just doesn't fit - do not wear it out ! - Ginette Chittick. So true. We definitely would not want to be caught in a situation where we are already out, and totally regretted what we put on. It brings down the whole confidence in you.

There are so many ways to wear your clothes, and fashion is about mix and match. Therefore, there is no one way to wear these pieces and people don't live by a singular trend. Ginette picks out the Black Pleated Culottes and the Apricot Asymmetrical Hem Shell Top to challenge Anny in putting a look using these two items.

Anny then tells us more about the two outfits she has put together for her assistants, Mildred and Melanie.

The key piece of this outfit is the Black Pleated Culottes. Mix it up with a tribal top, a fitted blazer and boots, and we are good to go. This is a difficult piece to match, but Anny does the whole look perfectly and Mildred carried it off well. I especially love the chunky silver necklace that Mildred is wearing !

Melanie's outfit is all about layering. The Apricot Asymmetrical Hem Shell Top is layered with a White Print Fringe Hem Cropped Vest and the Knitted Black Fringed Crop Cardigan. Now, sounds like a fringe overdose, but don't you think it works well in this case ?

The talk probably lasted for 30-45 minutes or so (I didn't keep track of the time since I was busy listening and snapping away). Then it was time to enjoy the 20% off storewide benefit that we had. We took a couple (probably more) of pieces and off we went to the dressing room.

Some of the pieces we tried on.

1) Michelle is wearing the Multi Colored Snake Print Shirt together with the Rose Seventies Wide Leg Trousers. In the end, she bought these two and told me she will be wearing them on her next work day.
2) I tried on the Co-ordinating Linen Blazer over the Basic Button Through Shirt (in mustard) and Black Daisy Spot Print Shorts (I had on a bigger size for this one since my size was unavailable. Sad ! I really wanted this)
Michelle is wearing the White Scallop Vest together with brown leather shorts.
3) Outfit 2 sans the blazer.
4) I changed to a White Scallop Crop Shirt which I contemplated on buying.

True to what Anny has said, SS/11 collection focuses more on silver accessories.

The newly-arrived Sandstorm collection for SS/11. This collection boasts a range of sorbet and sun-bleached tones.

Off we go to the cashier to finalize our buys. By the time we were done, Knightsbridge wasn't that crowded and I regretted not taking pictures of the stylish attendees that I saw earlier on.

Thanks to F3 for the Invite, and to my dear friend Michelle for spending her Saturday with me.
