The Game of Life

In the Game of Life there are three types of rules: outside laws - laws that the community agrees upon and abides by; the natural laws - laws that instinctively feel right to you; and the Universal laws - the 'umbrella' rules that are the highest spiritual laws. We all operate within these categories of rules and we're meant to discover, learn and amalgamate parts of all three. There's no 'pretending' either: once you are conscious of the rules, you can't go back and be ignorant of them.

Once you have a deep-seated understanding of these laws and how certain things affect and are affected by your actions and thoughts, you will develop your own personal set of rules that you can apply to the infinite variety of situations that life serves up. As you live, you will gather lessons from which you can construct a personal code that is constantly changing and growing.

By developing your own code you have made a sort of pact with your soul and accordingly your karma. Break your own law, pay you own penalty (remember, pain is nature's warning!). But the beauty of this is that life itself can teach you the rules, so if you pay attention and try to learn from all your mistakes as you go, through reflection and contemplation, pretty soon you'll only be repeating the positive things that resulted in progress.

It may take several repetitions of a pattern for you to understand that you are either not recognizing or you are deliberately breaking a personal law, which is why on occasions you may feel as though you are being hammered by life. But this is part of the process of development.

It's a bit like Snakes and Ladders - you climb the ladder only to fall down the snake on the next roll of the dice. It can be a freaky trip sometimes, but life's like that, and sometimes you just gotta roll the dice and go with it.
